Schulz received a BS degree in 数学 from Western Michigan University and a MA degree in 数学 from Florida State University where he studied algebraic topology. He was a 教师 Senator during the academic year 1974 - 1975 and served as Assistant Chair of the department from 1975 to 1977.

菲利普R. Wohl scholarship was created to honor the legacy and memory of Dr. 菲利普·R. Wohl who served as the first 研究生 Program Director (GPD) in the department. He held teaching positions at New York University and Carleton University prior to accepting an appointment as an Assistant 教授essor in the Department of 数学 and 统计数据 at 最靠谱的网赌软件 in 1974.
